How can Jigsaw develop learners’ oracy skills? This overview will allow you to fully understand how Jigsaw, the mindful approach to health and wellbeing can be a key factor in developing and supporting pupils oracy skills. The new curriculum for Wales Language, Literacy and Communication AoLE states that effective learners should, 'make evaluative and critical judgements about the ideas and viewpoints and the means of communication in what they hear, read, and view, in addition asking increasingly sophisticated questions.’ We will share how Jigsaw lessons are structured to develop pupil confidence, collaborative skills, and opportunities to share thoughts and feelings. To facilitate the use of questioning and being able to contribute to class discussions thoughtfully, and respectfully will also be shared. Delivered by Dawn Robertson.
Dawn will be sharing her expertise and experience from teaching within the Wales, but the content and approaches will be of interest to teachers in all primary schools.
